What is Basecamp?
Who We Are
Basecamp Business Incubator (Basecamp) is a social enterprise, operating as a non-profit company. Basecamp was established to function as an incubation and innovation hub which aims to contribute to building a thriving African startup ecosystem where new, innovative ideas flourish and grow into sustainable businesses.
Basecamp refers to the concept of a point of departure and a safe space to gather information, resources, and support and acquire the stamina to begin and/or grow a venture. The main activities of Basecamp include incubation and acceleration training programmes for entrepreneurs, startup community building as well as managing and dispensing a pre-seed investment fund.
Why We Exist
At Basecamp we believe that entrepreneurship and innovation are critical to the development and well-being of African societies as entrepreneurs create jobs and opportunities, especially for the youth. More needs to be done to support entrepreneurs to set up and build sustainable businesses. Additionally, innovation in many developing economies has been central to addressing social challenges, improving economic performance, and creating jobs.
